Today was Kai's last day of school before Spring Break so we decided to go have a celebratory dinner at Tengu, a Japanese Hibachi/Sushi restaurant. First time to such an establishment for Jak and Kelan. The chopsticks turned into percussive instruments before the food started coming. That was fun.
Jak demonstrates perfect chopsticks form.
Once the "show" got started, it was all good...
The chef was really funny and entertaining.
Kelan LOVED it!!
Then he brought out the old Pee trick toy...
Jak couldn't have been more offended that he got peed on by a little plastic man. And to make matters worse, right after that the chef did that awesome flame thing they always do where you think your eyelashes might be singed but its just so entertaining....

Assuming upright fetal position.
Better yet, demanding that dad hold him and take him as far against the wall as possible. Craig and Jak eventually ended up going to the car. Jak could NOT hang at the hibachi grill. Now we know....

Because I know you're dying to see, here's how my crockpot lasagna turned out on Monday. Not half bad...
Kai needs to stop being so handsome...seriously...
I love this boy.
Jak's not half bad himself...
Gigi always said she would only give her kids sticks and rocks. These boys would be thrilled with that...
Boys and their sticks...
Not sure what Indiana is doing with his whip here, but he's rather intent.
I think this is some sort of an Indiana Jones whip-dancing ritual. I'm not sure. Haven't seen the movies in a long time...

This is the expression we get when it's time to go inside...
Kelan says "Stop".
"It's ok if I don't wear a helmet"...
Kelan usually walks around the house heavily armed with something from Kai's arsenal, because Mom doesn't allow sticks in the house.
He's been a fan of hats recently as well.

Jak LOVES to sing. Mentioned recently that when I asked what kind of instrument he wanted to learn to play he answered, exuberantly, "A MICROPHONE!!!". No shortage in this house of microphones. He is amazed to look at them when they are set up.
And disappointed when he realizes they are not turned on...
Move over Blues Brothers...

Beautiful weather recently has allowed us to do fun stuff outside. I know it may not look like it from what I post on here, but it seems like we've been cooped up for months! We went for a picnic last Friday at Halyburton Park. We'll have to reschedule another after Spring Break with our good friend Alex, who got a monster splinter and had to cut out early. :(

Who needs PB&J when you have a tractor?

Indiana Jones (still) in action.

Here he is in full character....
Indiana Jones!!
A little after dinner musack.
My three sweet boys caught not knocking each other over momentarily.
Here's a crazy work in progress we pass by on our runs/bike rides. We call it the Jenga house.

Sunday we got to live like tourists in our own town, which meant we went paddle boating (didn't get any pics of that...too busy holding onto Jak and Kelan for dear life) and got to pedal around the island on a surrey bike (something Kai NEVER tires of)..
He was thrilled!
Jak so excited to get his feet in the sand.
Mom & Kelan having a serious conversation on the beach.
Carolina Beach North end pier.
Laid back lifeguard.
Daddy on the beach.
We finally got some more beach-worthy weather after what seems like months of cold and/or rainy weather. We didn't feel like we missed out on the NW winter!
